"THE PROCESS"

"What am I buying?"

Obviously, a hobbyhorse! But how was it made?

Not only do I think up all of my designs, but all of my horses are COMPLETELY HAND-SEWED! The base, ears, eyes and nostrils, and mane! Some of my older horses have some hot glue, but I'm always working on making my horses better!

I usually get horse ideas from real horse references! I then draw out my ideas in a notebook, and eventually cut them out onto fabric.

The longest part, hand sewing the base, is next! It usually takes at least 4+ hours to get a good stitch around the entire base.

Who knew stuffing could be hard? After the base is done, I flip the fabric right-side-out again! I have to be technical when I stuff, so I can get a good stiff base without unwanted chunky sides or extra width. You may see some safety pins closing the mouths of my horses. It's just an extra step I do to insure a nice closed mouth after the stuffing process is done!

After I stuff the base, I prepare two ears, nostrils, and eyes. They get sewn on right before the mane.

If I want a face marking, it also gets sewn on about now. Same thing with the mane. These might be my two favorite steps!

But my real favorite, the small details. It could be slight shadings around the ears or mouth, or the little white dot that shines in my hobbyhorses' eyes. I put a lot of time and effort into making the best ponies I can! Though I try to make everything as permanent as possible, shadings can and will rub off after time. Please be careful with the ears and mane, as they can be disconnected from the horse if ripped aggressively enough. My hobbyhorse shouldn't be used by someone under 2 years of age!
